Our latest release, Bastards, Fiends, Liars, and Thieves, we return back to the country, with a mid tempo, bleak reflection of the American decline of values and standards with a glimmer of hope moving forward. Produced, recorded, and mastered by Rich Mattson at his studio, the renowned, Sparta Sound, the Iron Range Outlaw Brigade features Kirk Kjenaas on acoustic guitar and vocals, John Peterson on resonator guitar, Allan Ranfranz on harmonica, Rich Mattson on bass guitar and Glen Mattson on drums and back up vocals. Recorded, along with a dozen other tunes, in the late, pre-pandemic, summer of 2019, we will start to bring these tunes to the public, aiming at a full album release in the fall of 2024, with the working title of Rednecks, White Trash, and Blue Collared Blues.
lyrics
Buck snort, wash board, kerosene
Penny for your thoughts and a magic bean.
A shoe box trailer with a porno magazine
Snake bite meth shack C.O.D
Dirt road sheriff with the guillotine
We’re drowning in shame, pass the Dramamine
Bastards, Fiends, Liars, and Thieves
Washed up, abandoned American dreams
Rusted tooth, chain saw, wolverine
Calloused fingers huffing gasoline
The sirens wailed when them blue skies, turned green
Taconite bath salt libertine
Walking these streets but never been seen
Another porcelain lost soul figurine
Bastards, Fiends, Liars, and Thieves
Washed up American dreams
Americana that’s stripped-back and punctuated with David Berman-esque wryness, “Longwave” is a strong step forward for bonny doon. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 22, 2018
